Self Guided Walking Tour of Portugal's Peneda-Gerês National Park

Begin your adventure by exploring the oldest village in Portugal in the heart of the Minho region. Explore the villages gardens, medieval town center and Roman bridge. Enjoy traditional cuisine and the locally produced vinho verde at one of Ponte de Lima's outstanding restaurants.

You will be transported by private driver to Sistelo where you will begin walking through stunning scenery toward your accommodations for the evening. For the next several days you will continue to walk experiencing rocky highlands with incredible vistas over the surrounding mountains, an isolated reservoir and dramatic rock faces. Follow the Peneda River to the place where two rivers merge and form the boundary with Spain. You will walk beside the River Lima and view the Lindoso Castle. You'll pass an incredible cluster of 54 espigueiros, these are usually long narrow grain stores or granaries used to hold and ripen all forms of grain and farm produce.

On the last day of your adventure you will be transported by private driver to Porto where you will spend a day and evening roaming the historical streets, visiting the Port wine Caves or doing whatever pleases you.
